Stress and Work: Creating an Effective Balance

In our daily work life, we all experience stress at some or other stage. It is purely because of the way we prioritize our work and family life. Looking at in an optimistic way, stress at some stage of life is important to complete work in a better way and get better results. But, excessive stress can lead to health problems. In today’s world, where people wish to attain higher positions in shorter spans of time and showcase their abilities by working under tight deadlines or overtime. stress levels are rising at an alarming rate. If the work done crosses the comfort zones of stress levels, your cognitive abilities and physical control are lost because of the anxiety that creeps into your job, and your personal life.

Reasons for excessive stress:

– Increased workloads

– Constant pressure to meet expectations within a desired timeline

– No monetary growth or opportunities to advance

– No personal or professional challenges

– No team or family support to discuss and share concerns

Stress also causes discomforts like headache, stomach-ache, sleep disturbance, short temper, and difficulty in concentrating. The chronic stage of stress results in high blood pressure, depression, obesity and heart diseases.

How to overcome stress?

– Simply share your feelings with the person who can understand and guide you properly towards betterment

– Plan your daily activities appropriately with ample time to complete each task. Prioritize effectively so that there is no excessive workload or overtime required to complete a task

– Do not fight stress with smoking and alcohol. Use stress busters like exercise, yoga, walking and sound sleep for at least six hours daily

No matter how stressful your life is, there are steps you can take to relieve the pressure and regain control.
